FAQ

Do you provide bar service?

We have liquor liability as well as general liability insurance, and are FULLY LICENSED to sell alcohol packages (most are not licensed).  We offer full bar packages and have an extensive cocktail program with our own Mixologist.  Whether you are interested in a couple of our previously designed libations or reinventing the wheel (of cocktails), our experience is here to help. We offer local wine and beer packages, and our Sommelier can help with that too.

Why should we hire a bar service?

STRESS FREE! It takes time to put together a detailed list of supplies, alcohol, mixers, bar kit utensils, shop for the best prices, purchase the alcohol, gather all the garnishes, transport all the supplies, transport all remaining supplies, and deal with finding liquor liability insurance for your event. We make it easy for you and it comes out to a similar price, especially, when you see how much time you have spent on all the details. Sit back and relax, and we’ll ensure a fabulous and ‘well watered’ event.

What are the average costs of our services and menus?

It depends on the complexity of the menu and the number of guests for your event, usually between $55-$95 per person.  This will include:

Rental Set-up, breakdown, and clean-up of table settings and food displays
Stationary appetizers and/or passed hors d’oeuvre
Dinner service with two entrees, sides, salad
Table-side beverage and wine service during dinner
Chef and Event Manager on-site
Kitchen and service staff
Rental Coordination and site check/visit coordination if needed
Service Charge/Gratuity suggested at 20%

Where do you cook your food?

Most of our prep is done in our kitchen for time and space constraints, and we cook on and off site depending on the location of your event.

Absolutely! Please let us know of any dietary restrictions ahead of time, and we will provide you with additional options.

Do you offer tasting?

How much are servers and bartenders?

Our service staff are professionals in the industry and Santa Barbara’s cost of living is much higher than other areas and we value our experienced staff.  Servers are billed at a rate of $28/hour and bartenders at $32/hour. This will include set up, service, and clean up of the event.  We always leave a event location cleaner than we found it.

How much advance notice is required for an event/order?

Typically 72 hours for a lunch delivery. For a dinner, there are a few more variables, such as the menu, date, size of the event, may all require additional time.

Do you provide plates and set-ups?

We can provide biodegradable utensils, plates, bowls, and napkins for a small fee. If you would like to be greener, we offer rentals at a fraction of a rental company’s price.

Do you offer rentals?

Yes, we do have limited party rental supplies. Buffet tables, linen, flatware, dishes, glassware, and chaffers. We will help you find the rest for your event.

How much are your rentals?

We have limited party rental supplies for a reason, to allow us to rent supplies significantly cheaper than rental companies.  We are happy to provide you with an estimate. Give us a call.

When is the final guest count and final payment due?

We require final guest count and final payment 7 working days prior to your event.

What about Holidays?

We are available most holidays.

How do Riviera Events service staff dress for events?

For a casual lunch or party, a polo shirt. For a more formal affair, service staff will wear a long-sleeve black collared buttonup shirt, with black pants, and black shoes.

How many different appetizers do I need to serve for an event?

A typical event with a meal and cocktail hour, would be best to serve 3-4 different appetizers. If your event is only appetizers and will be heavy noshing, we would recommend 4-5 passed appetizers, an appetizer station, and dessert station.

Why do I pay for vendor meals at my event?

Most of them have in their contracts they must be fed. But most importantly, they will have been working 8 or more hours on your event without the option of leaving for a meal. We offer our vendor meals at a lower price because they do not eat the appetizers or desserts.
